This evening, August 2, 2025, hundreds of Ghanaians will converge at Accra’s iconic Independence Square (Black Star Square) for a candlelight vigil honoring the legendary highlife icon, Daddy Lumba (Charles Kwadwo Fosu).
The solemn gathering, set to begin at 6:00 p.m., has been organized by devoted fans and music lovers to celebrate his remarkable life and lasting impact on Ghanaian music. Attendees are urged to dress in black and carry candles as a sign of peace, unity, and love.
The vigil will feature a live band playing some of Daddy Lumba’s timeless classics, along with moving poetry recitals and emotional tributes from admirers and fellow musicians.
In addition, a book of condolence has been made available by his family at his radio station, DLFM, and at his residence for fans who wish to pay their final respects.
